Duration: 1 – 1.5 Months (Hiring will start immediately and will continue until June 29th or until all positions are filled)
Work Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Academic researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) GOV/LAB are conducting a survey on political and community engagement in informal settlements in Lagos. We seek to hire Research Assistants (RAs) who will be responsible for administering in-person surveys on tablets with community members and collecting high-quality data. RAs will receive training in the latest qualitative and quantitative research methods, best practices, and ethics. We expect RAs to be available full-time during the survey period.
Applicants should be university graduates (although candidates nearing graduation may be considered). Applicants with prior field research experience conducting surveys or qualitative interviews are preferred. Those with a particular interest in social sciences – including political science, development studies, urban planning and economics – are encouraged to apply. We are also looking for RAs who are eager to learn new skills, have a positive attitude, and have excellent communication skills.
Pay will be competitive and will include additional stipends for travel and airtime. Successful applicants will also receive a certificate at the end of the survey period and letters of recommendation from MIT.
Interested applicants should submit a current CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
